11. ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES & METEOROLOGICAL RESEARCH ACTIVITIES :

Research activities in IRIMO are focused on nine branches and they are managed or programmed in  Tehran .

However, each provincial office has established one up to three applied meteorological  research center(s)  to

meet local requirements based on economic, physical and geographical specifications. The nine centers are as

follows :

1- National Center for Climatology

2- Atmospheric Chemistry and Air Pollution Research Center

3- Oceanic and Atmospheric Science Center

4- Agrometeorological Research Center

5- Synoptic and Dynamic Meteorology Center

6- Physical Meteorology and Cloud Seeding Center

7- Hydrometeorological Research Center

8- Aeronautical Meteorology Research Center

9- Atmospheric Sonding Research Center

Each of these centers is bearing a research council which consists of 15 to 25 experts .  Half of the members

of the Council are participating from universities and  technical colleges .  For the time being , 99  professors

from 28 universities are contributing to the projects of the research centers .

Currently , there are 241 main research projects which are under way. The priorities set upon different courses

in universities are defined by these councils . In this view, IRIMO may fund the expenses of MSc. and   Ph.D.

dissertations and select appropriate topics for them according to the requirements of the Organization . There

are big number of MSc. and Ph.D. students in the country and overseas who have won the  fellowships   and

support of IRIMO.
